My First Trifle

For Christmas, Erika got me a trifle bowl, something I've always wanted. At Christmas, I used it as a decoration with ornaments in it. Today is a coworker's birthday, so I thought I'd try out the bowl for food.

It's banana pudding, sliced bananas, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and angel food cake. Hopefully it tastes good. It looks pretty anyway!

Happy 29th Jeff!

Today is Jeff's 29th birthday. He has to work, but I made him a rib eye and baked potato (his favorite meal) for lunch. I also made this cake last night. It's my first cake I've actually carved, and I was pretty proud. He was surprised. He knew it was white with chocolate frosting (his favorite cake), but I surprised him with the shape.

And since Pinky's a little more willing to submit to photo requests, I decided to post one of Oz. This is just before he got a bath one day. Not his happiest moment.

Back to Quilting

This will ruin the surprise a bit, but it's too cute not to share at this point. This is the quilt I'm making for Matt and Erika. She's due in three weeks, and I want to get it done by the time baby arrives. They are doing the nursery in pink and brown, and the bedding has polka dots. I discovered this awesome polka dot fabric a few months ago, and then found these cute letters and flowers that coordinate with it. It still needs borders and to be "sandwiched," but this is what I got done today.

And here's a close picture of the fabrics.

The first dent

Well it's been pretty quiet around here since my parents left. Even the dogs are missing them. Since there isn't much going on, here's a not so happy picture. ...

I was entering the parking lot across the street from the Morning News on Thursday and the wind caught a gate and it slammed into the hood of Jeff's car, scraping it and putting a nice dent in it. I get the "honor" of putting the first dent in the new car.
